- Jastrzębski Węgiel has a chance to advance to the quarterfinals of the CEV Champions League. For this to happen, the Polish team needs to score just a point in Wednesday's match.
- Last round, the Polish champions recorded their first defeat in this year's edition of the CEV Champions League, losing to the Spanish champions Guaguas LAS PALMAS 1:3. This result means that the Spanish team is in second place in pool "D" with a real chance of advancing to the play-off round.
- Jastrzębski Węgiel has never lost to a German team in its own hall in it’s history of playing in the CEV Champions League.
- Benjamin Toniutti (Setter of Jastrzębski Węgiel): "On Wednesday, we have an important match in the CEV Champions League against LÜNEBURG to take first place in the group and avoid the play-offs. So that later, after two weeks of playing every three days, we had only one match a week and an opportunity to work in training."
- Yurii Gladyr (Middle blocker of Jastrzębski Węgiel): "We intend to beat the team from LÜNEBURG at home and seal the first place in our group."
SVG LÜNEBURG
- SVG LÜNEBURG is the fourth team from Germany against which Jastrzębski Węgiel plays in the CEV Champions League. Previously, these were: Berlin Recycling Volleys, VfB Friedrichshafen and TSV Unterhaching.
- Stefan HÜBNER, the current head coach of SVG LÜNEBURG, had the opportunity to play against Jastrzębski Węgiel in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, but not in the Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa, but at the Jastor ice rink, where Jastrzębski Węgiel played its matches in the CEV Champions League in the past. It took place on October 24, 2007, and HÜBNER represented the Italian club Sisley TREVISO.

JASTRZEBSKI Węgiel - SVG LÜNEBURG
- There were as many as four players from Canada in the match: Maxwell Elgert, Xander Ketrzynski, Jesse Elser (all from SVG Lüneburg) and Ryan Sclater form Jastrzębski Węgiel who previously played for the German club for two years.
- A group of a dozen or so fans of SVG Lüneburg from Germany went to Jastrzębie-Zdrój for the match. A similar situation occurred in the first match between these teams, when a group of several fans of Jastrzębski Węgiel also went to Lüneburg to cheer their team.
- MVP of the match was selected: Tomasz Fornal (16 points).

- Thanks to the win against SVG Lüneburg, Jastrzębski Węgiel guaranteed direct advancement to the quarterfinals of the CEV Champions League. For the Polish champions, this is the third consecutive promotion to the quarterfinals of the CEV Champions League.
- Jastrzębski Węgiel's middle-blocker, Yurii Gladyr, could not play in Wednesday's match due to an overuse injury.
