1,600 players coming together to crown Italy’s Beach Volleyball club champions!

The largest Beach Volleyball event organised by the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) specifically for clubs returns this coming weekend in Bibione, where the final stage of the Italian Club Championship will run from May 23 to 25. The eventual winners will not only crown themselves Italian national champions, but also secure the right to compete in the qualification phase of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup scheduled for later this year.
The Finals coincide with the last stop of a long journey, which began on November 1, 2024 with the first day of competition, whose preliminary phase ended this past May 11. Throughout the past six months, an impressive number of tournaments – 807! – has taken place across the Italian peninsula with as many as 801 players in each gender securing their journey to Bibione, 400 more than for the last edition held in 2024. The programme for the final weekend is just mind-boggling, with 1,825 matches scheduled from Friday to Sunday!
Clubs from all over Italy are therefore ready to do battle: all the categories will begin their race towards the national title on May 23, with the exception of the Masters, who will be taking to the court the following day only. This year there is also a competition specifically designed for beginners, i.e. those who have just recently started playing the game. Beach Volley Training from Beinasco (Turin) are the reigning champions and they will travel to Bibione highly motivated as they finished the first stage of the competition in first place with their men’s and women’s teams.
“It is the sixth edition of this competition, and we have been able to reach truly extraordinary numbers in a short time: more than 800 tournaments played throughout the country in the first phase, to reach a final with more than 800 pairs and 1,600 athletes. This weekend on the beach of Bibione, as many as 23 titles will be at stake across all categories. It is exciting to be able to say that the game will be played on 150 courts with more than 1,800 matches scheduled for the weekend,” says Fabio Galli, who is responsible for coordinating and supervising Beach Volleyball activities across Italy.
“Among other things, 70 referees and 15 supervisors will be involved. All this is made possible thanks to the Federal Council, old and new, for the investments dedicated to the development of the event, as well as the FIPAV staff who have constantly believed, even in the most difficult moments, in the value of this project, working with commitment and enthusiasm. However, at the heart of this adventure is the great work carried out by the clubs, which organise and support the championship through the recruitment, training of their athletes and the organisation of tournaments throughout the season. A sincere thank you to the friends of Raduni Sportivi who collaborate with the Federation for the set-up of Beach Volleyball courts and all the infrastructure needed for the event, as well as to the local political and institutional bodies. I invite everyone to attend the competition. The view that you have when you look out over the Veneto coastline during these days is priceless, and this will be complemented by a technical level on display that will guarantee a real show.”
