Annual Kartvela Cup coming up in Tbilisi

From September 26 to 29 the EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour - Kartvela Cup will be hosted by the Georgian Volleyball Federation in Tbilisi. Athletes from a variety of countries have been looking forward to competing in the Georgian capital city. The tournament is a single gender men’s event only featuring teams from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and obviously Georgia competing for the traditional Kartvela Cup.

Tbilisi, Georgia, September 26, 2024. From September 26 to 29 the EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour - Kartvela Cup will be hosted by the Georgian Volleyball Federation in Tbilisi. Athletes from a variety of countries have been looking forward to competing in the Georgian capital city. The tournament is a single gender men’s event only featuring teams from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and obviously Georgia competing for the traditional Kartvela Cup.

The competition will be co-hosted by the Georgian Volleyball Federation and the Technical University of Georgia with support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Tbilisi City Council, the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) and CEV.

The Kartvela Cup has been organised since 2009, and the anthem performed by the group Fran was especially created for this event. The goal of this traditional tournament is to immortalise the memory of the first Georgian libero player and member of the Georgian youth volleyball team - Davit Kartvelishvili, while popularising Beach Volleyball and raising its level and profile in Georgia.
