Armenia’s Beach Volleyball national champions crowned in Yerevan

On June 22, the 2025 edition of the Armenian Beach Volleyball Championships ended at the Khachik Asmaryan Beach Volleyball Academy. The event had started on June 7 and championship matches were contested every weekend since earlier this month.

As many as 10 women’s and 14 men’s teams participated in the domestic competition. For four match days, the teams competed in subgroups, after which the best eight men’s and six women’s teams advanced to the next round. In the second round, the teams continued their journey playing according to the double elimination system. 

In the men’s category, experienced teams delivered a close fight until the final match of the championship and very entertaining performances along the way. In the end, Team Yerevan (Andre Simoni/Vahe Nazaryan) crowned themselves national champions, followed by FIMA-2 (Khachatur Asmaryan/Hayk Baghramyan) and Team Gyumri (Karen Tigranyan/Petr Ikomasov) in second and third place, respectively. 

In the women’s competition, the fight for top honours was close and intense as well. In the end, the U18 national team of the Republic of Armenia (Elizaveta Tonoyan and Amalya Karapetyan) emerged victorious after securing a 2-1 victory over Team Fast (Elen Arakelyan/Narine Hakobyan). The U18 national team will leave in a few days to participate in the EEVZA Beach Volleyball U20 and U18 Championships to be held in Vilnius and Riga, which count also as first-round zonal qualifiers for the respective CEV Beach Volleyball European age-group championships. Team Geghashen (Arpine Badalyan/Lusine Gevorgyan) completed the podium. 

Action during the final stage of the men's competition

The top three teams were awarded medals and cups and financial rewards were provided by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia as follows: 

•    1st place: 200,000 AMD (approximately 450 €) 
•    2nd place: 120,000 AMD (approximately 270 €) 
•    3rd place: 80,000 AMD (approximately 180 €) 

Moreover, the winning teams also secured the right to participate in the preliminary phase of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2025. 

In a few days, the U18 event will be taking place at the same venue, for which a record 20+ teams in each gender have registered.
