The elite of European beach volleyball is headed to Vienna for a second-straight season next week, but this time, instead of the #EuroBeachVolley, the Austrian capital will host the first edition of the innovative and exciting A1 CEV BeachVolley Nations Cup from August 2-7.

The Heumarkt in the Austrian capital will once again host one of the top events of the season

The six-day tournament set to take place at the Heumarkt, which is located right in the heart of the Austrian capital, will feature an unprecedented country vs. country competition that will reunite the eight best nations in the continent in each gender battling for the crowns and the 100,000 euros prizes.

Among the 32 teams set to compete in Vienna next week are some of the biggest stars of international beach volleyball such as reigning world and Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway, Olympic medalists Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands, reigning #EuroBeachVolley champions Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner of Switzerland and 2022 World Championship bronze medalists Cinja Tillmann and Svenja Müller of Germany.

The eight nations that qualified in each gender were split into two pools, with Norway, Italy, Poland and Germany forming Pool A and the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic and Estonia competing in Pool B among the men. The women’s event has Switzerland, the Netherlands, Latvia and Spain in Pool A and Germany, Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic in Pool B.

Beach Nations Cup Match Schedule

Each country will be represented by two teams per gender and each match will consist of one duel between the nations’ top-ranked teams and another reuniting their lower-ranked duos. If the countries split wins in the doubleheader, a Golden Set will be played, in which any combination of players of the same nation will be possible for selection.

After the conclusion of pool play, the two pool winners in each gender will advance directly to the semifinals. The countries that finish second and third in their pools will play crossed elimination quarterfinal matches against opponents from the opposite pool to try and make it to the semifinals.

Matches start on Tuesday, August 2, with the women’s Pools A and B. The men start competing on Wednesday and the medal matches will take place on Saturday, for the women, and Sunday, for the men.

All matches of the event will be streamed live on EuroVolley.TV and on CEV's YouTube channel.
