Gothenburg and Slow Down victorious in Swedish Beach Volleyball Club Championships
News
Over three days at the end of June, the second edition of the Swedish Beach Volleyball Club Championships took place in the town of Norrköping, south of Stockholm. On the men’s side, Slow Down Beachvolleyklubb, as defending champions, claimed their second title, whereas the women of Gothenburg Beach Club secured the win over The Beach, last year’s champions. The winners have secured the right to represent Sweden in the preliminary phase of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2025.
The Swedish Beach Volleyball Club Championships were one of the summer’s major highlights in Swedish Beach Volleyball. A total of 16 teams – eight in the women’s category and just as many in the men’s division – competed over three days to become Sweden’s Club Champions for 2025. The competition was only the second of its kind, following the resounding success of the 2024 premiere.
First up was the men’s final, with Slow Down Beachvolleyklubb facing Gothenburg Beach Club, the largest Beach Volleyball club in Sweden, with many players boasting international experience. In the end, it was the tightest possible result that decided the winner. Slow Down Beachvolleyklubb claimed the title with a score of 15-13 in the golden set, after each of the club’s pairings had won one match.
The women’s final was equally dramatic, with a golden set also needed to decide who would take home the gold medal. This time, Gothenburg came out stronger and secured the title against defending champions The Beach, a local club from Stockholm, with a 15-11 result in the decisive set.
