After completion of as many as 14 preliminary rounds and a final stage organised in the city of Vukovar this past August 5, the very first edition of the so-called Croatian Beach Volleyball League ended with the triumphs of KOP Siget and KOP Opatija among women and men, respectively. The event run by the Croatian Volleyball Federation was contested in a double round-robin format, whereby each team played against every other club twice, thus accounting for 14 rounds. The winners have secured the right to represent Croatia in the second edition of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup scheduled for later this year at a venue still to be confirmed.

As many as eight clubs featured in the women’s competition as well as in the men’s division. These followed rules and patterns like those introduced at last year’s Beach Volley European Cup, with each club lining up two duos and each fixture consisting of two matches. Clubs would receive two points for the final standing if they were to score two wins and one point apiece if they were to trade victories in their double headers.

KOP Siget finished top of the charts in the women’s competition on 22 points, followed by KOP Čakovec and KOP Opatija on a record of 18 and 17, respectively. In the men’s competition, KOP Opatija triumphed after collecting 25 points, with the podium completed by KOP Siget (24) and the hosts of the final stage, KOP Vukovar on 14.
