With their country due to host the second edition of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup in early October in Montpellier, the French Volleyball Federation (FFVolley) did organise this past weekend in Toulouse their domestic qualifier for the eagerly anticipated continental event. The competition held in Toulouse featured as many as 12 clubs in each gender – which had reached this stage of after contesting three qualifying rounds.
Bordeaux Beach Chillers emerged as the winners of the women’s competition after they edged home favourites Beach Volley Toulousain in the final. Montpellier Beach Volley triumphed in the men’s competition after cruising past Ré Beach Club. This means that Montpellier Beach Volley will be vying for the men’s continental crown on home sand when the event takes place in southern France from October 10-13, 2024. Montpellier Beach Volley had represented France at last year’s inaugural Beach Volley European Cup in Balikesir, Türkiye, when they finished the competition in fourth place.
The format of the domestic qualifier was almost identical to the Beach Volley European Cup – with each club competing with two teams thereby accounting for four players in total.
