NEVZA Beach Sweden 2025 – Home hopes aiming for top honours in Göteborg

The 2025 edition of NEVZA Beach Sweden will take place in Göteborg from October 31 to November 2. The event coincides with the season-ending stop of the North European Beach Volleyball Tour.

On Friday, October 31, 32 of the top Beach Volleyball pairs (16 per gender) from across North Europe will step onto the sand at Beach Center in Göteborg, the world’s largest indoor Beach Volleyball arena, to compete for prestige, ranking points and prize money in this year’s final NEVZA event. As tradition dictates, the tournament coincides with the Halloween Cup weekend, which gathers nearly 400 players for recreational competitions across the venue’s 16 indoor courts thereby accounting for a real Beach Volleyball festival!

Strong Swedish representation
Home hopes for Swedish success are high. A total of eleven Swedish teams will compete – six women’s pairs and five men’s duos.

“We are looking forward to exciting matches and entertaining performances for the crowd. All athletes, officials, and spectators are warmly invited to Saturday night’s Halloween Party at Beach Center,” said Anneli Friborg, Tournament Director at the hosting Gothenburg Beach Volleyball Club (GBC). “As organisers, we are both proud and delighted to create competition opportunities for Swedish players – a chance to test themselves against international opposition on home soil while gaining valuable experience and crucial ranking points. Just look at last year’s men’s champions, Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson, who are now – only a year later – among the very best in the world,” Friborg continued.

Eleven Swedish teams in the line-up
Hölting Nilsson/Andersson will not be competing this year. After claiming their first-ever World Tour gold in Cape Town, South Africa just last week, the duo is now preparing for their first senior World Championship in Adelaide, Australia this November. Sweden is still well represented, with eleven homegrown teams – six women’s and five men’s – taking part in this year’s NEVZA Beach Sweden.

On the men’s side, hometown hero Stefan Andreasson from GBC is teaming up with Malmö BC’s Anton Andersson, entering as the top seeds. Another exciting pair is a local duo awarded a wild card. The experienced Alexander Herrmann – former NEVZA medallist and Swedish Tour winner, and a well-known GBC product with a big heart for the sport – will team up with the young and promising Valdemar “Valle” Jacobsson Orrbeck, also developed at GBC. Valle has already gained international experience this year, having competed in the Beach Pro Tour Futures in Malmö during the summer alongside Alexander Annerstedt. The combination of Herrmann’s experience and Valle’s fresh speed and energy could offer spectators top-class entertainment on home sand.

On the women’s side, Sweden is also represented near the top of the seedings. Juste Derkintyte (Play 4 Life) and Ellen Lindqvist (GBC) enter as the third-seeded pair, while last year’s silver medallists Fanny Åhman (Stöcke IF) and Helene Jernbeck (Slow Down Beachvolley) return, though with new partners. Åhman pairs up with Isabelle Reffel (Lidingö SK), and Jernbeck competes alongside Sara Cavretti (The Beach). Norway’s Nina Pavlova/Tale Adine Fosseli top the women’s seedings.
