Pedrosa/Campos and Beatriz/Inês crowned Portuguese national champions

Beach Volleyball duos João Pedrosa/Hugo Campos and Beatriz Pinheiro/Inês Castro claimed on Sunday the final stage of the Portuguese National Beach Volleyball Championships contested at the Centro de Alto Rendimento de Voleibol de Praia (CARVP) run by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV) in Cortegaça, Ovar.

To secure their first national title, Beatriz Pinheiro and Inês Castro, a young duo supported by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation, defeated 17-year-olds Ana Rui Monteiro and Margarida Santos 2-0 (21-10, 21-19). Juliana Antunes/Tânia Oliveira, the champions in 2021, finished third after defeating Raquel Lacerda/Marta Hurst (22-20, 23-21).

In the men’s competition, João Pedrosa and Hugo Campos, a duo supported by the FPV, also won their first national title after edging another young tandem, Guilherme Maia and Filipe Leite, in straight sets (21-16, 21-15). José Monteiro and Simão Teixeira finished third after defeating Guilherme Costa and André Sapina (21-18, 21-16).

The Beach Volleyball High Performance Centre (CARVP) of the Portuguese Volleyball Federation is a sports facility equipped with the best conditions for the practice of Beach Volleyball. It previously hosted the finals of the 2020 and 2021 National Beach Volleyball Championships, as well as the 2022 Veterans Championship and training camps for teams from Israel, Venezuela, England, and Paraguay.

CARVP, which hosted a stage of the World Tour in 2021 on its international debut, continues to deserve the trust and interest of the bodies that govern the sport internationally and it will host, from August 11-14 a stop of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour 2022.
