Some 55 people joined the second webinar organised by the CEV Beach Volleyball Department with a focus on club development where the presenter, Per Ljunggren, explained the journey Gothenburg Beach Volleyball Club has undertaken to get to where they are: amongst the biggest Beach Volleyball clubs running the world’s largest indoor arena specifically designed for Beach Volleyball.

Ljunggren shared the history of the club, and explained step by step how they went from a couple of court facilities to having as many as 16 indoor and another 12 outdoor courts. He also took the time to explain the financial model that they use to make their endeavours so successful, and how they still keep striving for further growth as a club.

Ljunggren explained the governance structures and how they have regularly managed to secure the appropriate investment to make sure their innovative ideas come to life. Many questions came from the participants of the webinar, thereby exploring further opportunities for income, including events, tournaments, and competition ideas to make the business model viable in the future.

This was the second in a series of four such webinars, with another two coming up soon. On May 28, Tomislav Smuc from Ludus Ljubljana – who is also the President of the European Beach Volleyball Commission (EBVC) for a second four-year term – will deliver a session focused on ‘Courts that Work: Facilities Management and Operations for Beach Volleyball Clubs’. Moreover, on June 4, Mark Kontopolous from SideOut London will be the speaker for the ‘All Seasons, One Club: Managing Indoor & Beach Volleyball for Growth’ session. Click here to register.
