Poghosyan and Melkumyan claim Armenian women’s Beach Volleyball title

The 2021 edition of the Armenian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship ran from June 11 to 13 at the iconic Grand Sport Complex in Yerevan with participation of as many as 12 teams.

Newly crowned Armenian national champions Meri Poghosyan and Diana Melkumyan

The competition started with the pool stage, featuring a number of close and exciting matches, followed by the knockout phase.

Meri Poghosyan and Diana Melkumyan (Team Avan-1) were the eventual winners of the competition, after they beat Svetlana Margaryan/Eliška Kindlová (Team Van-2) 2-1 in the gold medal match. Anna Galustyan and Ofelya Matosyan (Team Van-1) were the recipients of the bronze medals following their victory over Sona Sahakyan/Tatevik Martirosyan (Team VBET) in the small final.

The President of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA), Hrachya Muradyan, and VFA Board of Administration members Grigori Ambaryan and Karine Serobyan presented the top three teams with medals, cups and gifts, with special commemorative medals awarded to the referees officiating at the tournament as well.
