In its third edition only, the CEV Beach Volley European Cup has grown exponentially, with as many as 28 men’s and 22 women’s clubs registering for participation in the preliminary phase scheduled for later this month and early October, thereby accounting for 24 National Federations involved in a project designed to enhance the role played by Beach Volleyball clubs in growing the game.

The CEV Beach Volley European Cup returns for its third edition with record-breaking participation numbers

Since its inception back in 2023, the CEV Beach Volley European Cup has grown slowly but steadily. When Balikesir in Türkiye played host to the inaugural edition in the early fall of 2023, the competition featured 10 clubs per gender from nine National Federations. Last year, when the event was held in Montpellier, it had already grown to 16 clubs per gender from 15 National Federations. Moreover, the 2025 edition has managed to mobilise Zonal Associations too, with three (BVA, MEVZA, and WEVZA) delivering qualifying events as well.

The clubs participating in the preliminary phase were confirmed today at the end of the registration process and following a busy summer with homologated domestic club competitions held in as many as 26 countries. The figures show the pivotal role that the CEV Beach Volley European Cup can play in growing the game through a truly unique and appealing format, which highlights the depth in quality over the excellence of the individual players.

Azerrail secured an unprecedented triumph last year in Montpellier

In many cases, clubs from a variety of National Federations will be making their historic debut in the competition – whereas other countries have had the privilege of registering even two clubs courtesy of their position in the relevant European Ranking and / or the success achieved in zonal qualifiers. While the large majority of National Federations have registered teams in both genders, Armenia, Czechia, England, the Netherlands, and Switzerland will only feature in the men’s competition. Lithuania, on the other hand, has only signed up for the women’s event.
