Day 2 of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup 2025 Final at TUI Magic Life Candia Maris in Heraklion, Crete, delivered intense group-stage action and decisive results that shaped the quarterfinal and semi-final line-ups for both the men’s and women’s tournaments.
Zevenhuizen and Ré Beach Club lead the way
In the men’s competition, ZVH Zevenhuizen from the Netherlands confirmed their dominance in Pool A, finishing at the top of the group after a series of straight-set victories. They were followed by Sunrise Beach Sports Academy of Ukraine and Aloha BV Club from Austria, both advancing with strong performances, while Montpellier Beach Volley of France finished in fourth place.
“It’s a new and interesting format for the competition, especially the stage where players from the same club can be switched,” said Yannick Verberne. His teammate Leon Luini added: “This format with substitutions is really nice. Maybe in the future clubs could even mix players of different nationalities - since this Cup is growing fast, that could make it even more exciting.”
Both athletes praised the excellent facilities and organisation at TUI Magic Life Candia Maris, highlighting the fantastic conditions and warm hospitality. “The venue is fantastic, the event is very well organised, and we are really enjoying our time here,” they said.
In Pool B, Ré Beach Club from France remained unbeaten, securing first place after commanding victories against BC Strahov of Czechia, 4 Sports Club of Greece, and CSU Resita from Romania. The Czech team finished second, while 4 Sports Club ranked third.
Saturday’s quarterfinals will see 4 Sports Club face Sunrise Beach Sports Academy, while Aloha BV Club meets BC Strahov. The winners will advance to the semi-finals, where they will take on Ré Beach Club and ZVH Zevenhuizen respectively.
Sunrise Beach Sports Academy and Oxyklinika stay on top
In the women’s tournament, Sunrise Beach Sports Academy of Ukraine continued their impressive run, finishing first in Pool A with a perfect record. EDRA Tata from Hungary followed closely in second place, while BVC Ludus Ljubljana of Slovenia secured third. The Greek teams of 4 Sports Club fought hard but concluded the group stage in fourth place.
Pool B remained highly competitive, with KBC Oxyklinika of Lithuania taking the top spot ahead of CV Majadahonda from Spain. Ré Beach Club and Beograd Beach Volley of Serbia followed closely behind.
“The event is excellent. The facilities are very good and everything is well organised. Thanks to the victories we achieved on the first day, we managed to qualify in third place and we will fight on with Hungary,” said Saofé Duval from Ré Beach Club. Her teammate Elsa Descamps added: “The level of competition is quite high, and we will need to give our very best. This is the last tournament of the season for us, and we want to finish it in the best possible way.”
Saturday’s quarterfinals feature Ré Beach Club against EDRA Tata, and BVC Ludus Ljubljana facing CV Majadahonda. The semi-finals will bring together Sunrise Beach Sports Academy and KBC Oxyklinika, who will meet the winners of those matches.
With the knockout phase underway, anticipation is high for an exciting weekend of Beach Volleyball on the sands of Ammoudara, as Europe’s best clubs continue their pursuit of the title.
