Teams from Austria and Lithuania claimed Beach Volleyball top honours at the European Universities Games 2024 (EUG2024) held in Debrecen and Miskolc, Hungary.
Even though the final competition day in Miskolc was affected by rainy conditions, this did not prevent the players from fighting hard for the medals. In the men’s tournament, the University of Vienna (AUT) competed against their compatriots from the University of Klagenfurt and the players from Austria’s capital emerged victorious. Vytautas Magnus University (LTU) won the ‘small final’ to secure the final spot on the podium.
In the women’s competition, the team from Lithuanian Sports University (LTU) defended their title from the previous edition as they edged their opponents from Charles University (CZE), who travelled home with the silver medals around their necks. The University of Warsaw (POL) won the bronze medal.
Mathias Seiser (University of Vienna) was named Most Valuable Player in the men’s category, while the women’s corresponding honour was claimed by Gerda Grudzinskaite (Lithuanian Sports University).
