University teams claim top honours at Romanian domestic championships

The Romanian Volleyball Federation did recently organise their national Beach Volleyball championships specifically designed for clubs – an event that as such would count as a qualifier for the second edition of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup as well. The tournament ran from July 19 to 21 in Bucharest and was delivered in close cooperation with a local promoter, Beach Volleyball Team Events. 

It was a resounding success, which did draw positive reviews from players and coaches, who were especially happy with the innovative competition format and even with the idea of playing a Golden Set to break any eventual tie. 

The eventual champions are CSU ASE Bucharest and CSU Stiinta Bucharest for women and men, respectively. These are both university teams with a rich history and good resume in Beach Volleyball. The competition featured six men’s and four women’s clubs.
