The second leg of the quarter-finals of the CEV Champions League Women is upon us, so we are getting back into the groove with the CEV Champions League Women Fantasy, after the first rounds saw a fairly successful performance from our team.

The first-of-its-kind experience for CEV, gives fans the opportunity to become the coach of their own team across the men’s and women’s European premium competitions. Fans can pick a team of twelve players with specific assigned positions inside a dedicated team budget of 100 million euros.

Haven’t you already signed in and chosen your team? Don’t worry, we got you covered.

So, the rules are quite simple and can be found here. To start, you must select a squad of 12 players with an initial budget of 100 million fantasy euros. The initial squad selection must consist of: three outside hitters, three middle blockers, two setters, two liberos and two opposites. You must select seven players from your squad of 12 players to form your starting roster for each game week.

Now, everything is crucial, therefore we invest the big chunk of our budget in the starters. We have learnt and adapted and now we get ready to our tenth draft in the CEV Champions League Women Fantasy.

KEY PLAYERS

Tijana Bošković (€15m): Last year, Bošković was the player with the largest number of points in the CEV Champions League Women. This time around, she did not produce as many points and that can be seen in our Fantasy game, where nine players have outscored the Serbian star. But we play the situation here and with Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul needing to turn the tide around after the 0:3 loss against Numia Vero Volley Milano, Bošković will surely star for the Turkish side. In the first leg, she scored 55 points in our game, 10 more than her average of 45.3 per match. And with Eczacibasi conceding a 0:3 loss, there is only potential to improve.

Ting Zhu (€12m): Conegliano did not lose a match this season and they have been shuffling their line-up on and off throughout the season, but when business calls, Ting Zhu is there. The Chinese star produced 60 points in the first leg against Developres Rzeszow, 11 points more than her average and is fantastic scorer, in a stellar line-up, which also has Isabelle Haak and Gabi Guimaraes. We stick to what we know and what worked last week for the first outside hitter in our team, as Zhu has been a constant presence in our squad throughout the season.

Xinyue Yuan (€7.5m): We play the situation here too, after VakifBank conceded a 0:3 home loss against rivals Fenerbahçe in the first leg. Will the Turkish side suffer such a serious loss once again? The place in the Final Four, as well as the pride, are in play here and VakifBank have never lost a knockout doubleheader against Fenerbahçe in their history in the European premium competition. Yuan scored 36 points in our Fantasy game in the first leg and will need a monster performance were her team was to challenge for a comeback.

KEY DIFFERENTIAL

Arina Fedorovtseva (€12.5m): Key differential? More like lock in and forget. Fedorovtseva has been Fenerbahçe’s top scorer in the previous season, but did not start this season in the Turkish team. She was a late addition, but was worth her weight in gold, averaging 70.5 points in the Fantasy game. She had 62 points in the first leg against VakifBank, but will be a crucial player once again in the second leg and while we did not select her in the first leg, it is high time for the Russian superstar to make her debut in our drafts.
