#CLVolleyM Teams Ready For The Huge Fight in Italy
Preview
After the long national team season for Italy, where they took a silver medal in the CEV EuroVolley 2023, the time has arrived for the domestic club season. All six clashes will take place on October 10th, and the top teams participating in #CLVolleyM will make their debuts for the upcoming season. The pre-favorites of this year are for sure Lube, Trentino, and Piacenza, and despite some major changes, they will mainly continue with the same roster.
The reigning champions of the national league, Itas Trentino, will be the biggest squad to keep an eye on. Despite the title in the domestic season, they also played in the final of the Italian Cup and the FIVB Club World Championship. Now, they want to move one step further and collect the trophies they will fight for.
The biggest change in the team is in the technical staff. They said goodbye to Italian expert Angelo Lorenzetti and agreed with Fabio Soli, who spent the last season at Top Volley Cisterna. They also parted ways with the MVP of the last edition, Bulgarian Matey Kaziyski. Apart from that, we do not see too many changes in the roster: The domestic stars Riccardo Sbertoli, Alessandro Michilietto, Gabriele Nelli, and Domenico Pace stay with the internationals, Serbian Marko Podrascanin and Belgian Wout D’Heer.
Another team that will fight for the trophy is Cucine Lube Civitanova. Even though the biggest aim will be to get the best result in #CLVolleyM for Gianlorenzo Blengini’s team, they also want to improve the color of the medal in the domestic tournaments as well.
We do not see any significant farewells on Lube’s roster, but one newcomer will certainly strengthen the team. The promising Turkish opposite Adis Lagumdzija will start a new chapter in his career after a successful season in Valsa Group Modena. We will see him and Italian superstar Ivan Zaytsev in the opposite positions this year. The international big names, Argentinian setter Luciano De Cecco, Cuban outside hitter Marlon Yant, and French middle blocker Barthelemy Chinenyeze will also continue to wear Lube’s jersey alongside the domestic stars Fabio Balaso, Simone Anzani, and Enrico Diamantini.
Another team that needs to be mentioned is Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. They had quite a good season last year, taking the national cup title and third place in the league. Under the guidance of their new head coach, Andrea Anastasi, Piacenza will also mainly pursue success with the same stars. Two Brazilian superpowers, Ricardo Lucarelli and Yoandy Leal, remain to help the team reach their goals, as well as French setter Antoine Brizard and two Cubans, Robertlandy Simon Aties and Roamy Alonso. Italian Yuri Romano, Francesco Recine Yuri Romano, Francesco Recine, Fabrizio Gironi, and Leonardo Scanferla also continue giving their best to the team.
One of the best domestic leagues in Europe, the Italian SuperLega will definitely offer high-quality volleyball, mostly by the CEV Champions League Volley teams that will mainly continue with the same stars. We will all watch what the experienced squads bring to us during the long season and who will achieve the title.
