The new season of the #CLVolleyW has officially started with the first games of the fourth round, and the biggest favorites made their debut in the best way for the most elite competition of the continent. Now, they turn their eyes to the domestic clashes, and a relatively comfortable weekend awaits them in Türkiye and Italy, while Schwerin will take the court to advance to the next round in the German Cup.
All Italian CEV Champions League Volley contenders won their first battles in the group stage without losing any sets, and this weekend, they will aim for the same in the seventh round of the Italian Serie A1. The reigning #CLVolleyW and domestic league champions A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano will face Chieri ’76, Numia Vero Volley Milano will host UYBA Busto Arsizio, and finally, Savino Del Bene Scandicci’s rival will be Bergamo. Even though each three teams is the clear pre-favorite of the matches, they should definitely pay attention, especially the Scandicci, since any unexpected defeat will mean a fall in the overall standings.
Similarly, both of the Turkish #CLVolleyW participants became victorious in their opening games. They also fill the first three places in charts currently in the Turkish Sultanlar League, with a 6-1 winning record apiece. On the other hand, Fenerbahce Medicana Istanbul leads the main round with a total of 19 points, one more than Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul and three more than VakiBank Istanbul. Their upcoming national challenge will be easy for them, and they will surely try to complete the weekend with straight-set victories.
SSC Palmberg Schwerin also did a good start to their CEV Champions League journey by beating Levallois Paris Saint Cloud without losing any sets, and now they will seek another one in the national cup. In the last 16 round, they will meet Suhl this Saturday, to secure their spot in the quarterfinals.
Now, it is time for #CLVolleyW first-week winners to focus on their new domestic fights ahead: Both Italian and Turkish squads will try to stay at the top standings of the leaderboard with comfortable victories, and Schwerin’s goal is to book their ticket in the German Cup quarterfinals. We will see if these teams continue improving their games day by day, or if any surprising results occur.
