Crvena Zvezda claimed the Serbian women’s national league for the 28th time in their glorious history after emerging victorious from the fifth and final match of the championship series in front of a capacity crowd of 2,200 spectators in Ub. Crvena Zvezda beat ZOK UB 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-13) after 66 minutes of play, thus finishing the series on a record of three wins and two losses.
Crvena Zvezda defeated the hosts in a dominant display to claim their first national league title since 2013, while the reigning champions, ZOK UB, could not count on the help of their captain and best player, Ljiljana Ranković, who got injured in the fourth match in Belgrade.
Mr Zoran Gajić, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, handed over the championship trophy for the winners of the 2021/2022 Banka Poštanska štedionica (Postal Savings Bank) Superleague, to Bojana Drča, team captain of Crvena Zvezda.
Mr Ivan Knezevic, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, presented Ljiljana Rankovic, team captain of ZOK UB, with the consolation trophy for the runners-up of the competition.
Bojana Drča“It seems that we won this fifth deciding match fairly easily, but it was not easy at all. We were all under enormous pressure. We fought throughout the whole season for this and now we can celebrate the national league title along with the national cup trophy that we recently won, thus crowning this fairy tale season."
