Crvena Zvezda celebrate hard-fought win in #CEVCupW 8th Finals

On Tuesday night action resumed in the 8th Finals of the women’s CEV Cup, where Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD and Czechia’s Šelmy BRNO played a very close and highly entertaining match, with the home side from Serbia’s capital city eventually securing a 3-1 victory. 

Malgorzata Jasek top scored with 26 points as Crvena Zvezda claimed a hard-fought 3-1 home win

The visitors from the Czech Republic started powerfully and surprised Crvena Zvezda with impressive spikes and a very solid performance in every aspect of the game. This resulted in a 25-20 set win for the away team. Despite this early setback, Crvena Zvezda managed to keep their composure in the second set and edged out a 26-24 win. The third set was another close affair, with nice actions displayed on both sides of the net, but Crvena Zvezda eventually had the upper hand at 25-20. The game was truly a pleasure to watch and follow in the fourth set too. After another closely contested battle, Crvena Zvezda managed to close out the game with a narrow 25-21 win.  

MVP of the game was Malgorzata Jasek, the Polish opposite of Crvena Zvezda, who scored 26 points, followed by Saska Djurovic and Jelena Stojic with 13 and 12 points, respectively. For Šelmy, the most efficient and prolific player was their Finnish opposite Rosa Bjärregård-Madsen with a personal tally of 14 points.
