Guidetti and Canada’s national women’s volleyball team are embarking on a new chapter. According to the official statement by Volleyball Canada, Giovanni Guidetti will take over as head coach with the start of the international season.
Guidetti, the Italian expert and surely one of the best coaches in history, is best known for turning Vakıfbank Spor Kulübü into a global powerhouse since 2008, leading the Turkish club to multiple national and international triumphs, including five CEV Champions League Volley titles. five FIVB Club World Championships gold medals and countless of national trophies.
Internationally, he most recently guided Serbia to a silver medal at CEV EuroVolley 2023 and a seventh-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Over his successful career, Guidetti has also coached Türkiye between 2017 and 2022, where he led secured a total of three podium (one silver and two bronze medals) finishes in CEV EuroVolley competitions. Guidetti was also in charge of Italy, Bulgaria, Germany, and the Netherlands national teams, and earned numerous medals, including EuroVolley honors.
Giovanni GuidettiI always admired and respected the way Canada played volleyball and improved so much in the last years. The number eight in the world ranking is an amazing result and now a great starting point aiming at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. I believe Canada has top level international players and the young generations are very promising, so I am really excited to start this new journey.
