This week’s transfer window brought a flurry of activity across Europe’s most elite clubs as they shape squads for the upcoming season. Italy’s #CLVolleyW squads doubled down on their cores, while the newly crowned Trentino unveiled fresh leadership. In Poland, Jastrzebski and Zawiercie strengthened key positions on the court, while Łódź and Rzeszów added rising stars and seasoned internationals to their ranks.
In Italy, the defending CEV Champions League Volley champions A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano delighted fans by renewing two of the game’s biggest names. Brazilian superstar Gabriela Guimarães signed on for a second season after leading Imoco with her dynamic all-court play and capturing five trophies in 2024–25. In addition, Chinese legend Zhu Ting—fresh from a remarkable comeback season—committed to her second year in Conegliano. Other #CLVolleyW team of the country, Savino Del Bene Scandicci also impressed, announcing the arrivals of veteran Italian outside Caterina Bosetti—coming off a Turkish league title with VakifBank Istanbul—and powerful German middle blocker Camilla Weitzel, who spent last season in Vallefoglia.
Over in men’s volleyball, Itas Trentino turned heads by appointing Marcelo Méndez as head coach. The Argentine-Italian tactician, fresh from Olympic bronze with Argentina and a string of PlusLiga successes, has signed a two-year deal. Méndez’s reputation for disciplined yet explosive volleyball will be central to Trentino’s bid to defend both domestic and European honors.
Poland’s #CLVolleyM teams also made waves: Jastrzębski Węgiel added firepower with three signings: American-Polish outside hitter Nicolas Szerszeń from Olsztyn, Serbian opposite Miran Kujundžić, who tallied over 390 points in Belchatow last season; and 2.03 m blocker Łukasz Usowicz, arriving from Perugia fresh off a Champions League run. Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie bolstered its spine by signing veteran libero Jakub Popiwczak, who spent 13 years in Jastrzebski and won a lot of huge successes both in club and national level, including gold in CEV EuroVolley 2023.
Finally, PGE Grot Budowlani Łódź rounded out its reception lineup by signing Romanian national team captain Rodica Buterez, while Developres Rzeszów continued its youth-focused rebuild. Rzeszów added 22-year-old outside hitter Julita Piasecka and 21-year-old middle blocker Justyna Jankowska, one of Poland’s up-and-coming stars.
With rosters largely in place and a blend of proven champions, international stars, and emerging talent now assembled, Europe’s top clubs are ready to hit the court hard when the 2025–26 season swings into action.
