Igor Gorgonzola Novara Wins the 2024 CEV Challenge Cup Women

Italy's representative in this year's CEV Challenge Cup Women's Final, Igor Gorgonzola Novara managed yet another dominant display on the court to claim the title. Across the two Final matches, the Italians have only lost one set, proving to be more than a worthy winner and bringing the third consecutive Challenge Cup trophy to Italy, after Scandicci (2022) and Chieri (2023).

The French from Neptunes Nantes started the match confidently, knowing they have nothing to lose following a straight sets defeat in the first leg. Solid dislay throughout and hope at the end of it, narrowly claiming the first set. It was all about Novara after that. Spearheaded by the impressive Vita Akimova, top scorer on the night (25 points), the Italians went from strength to strength and slowly but surely put themselves in the champions' seat.
