Kairos PONTA DELGADA reach #CEVChallengeCupW 16th Finals in style

Reigning Danish champions HOLTE IF had their backs against the wall as they welcomed Portuguese team Kairos PONTA DELGADA on their home court for the second match between the two clubs scheduled for the 32nd Finals of the women’s CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup 2022.

The energy provided by the Holte supporters was strong from the beginning, and HOLTE IF started the game with strong serves and aggressive attacks. After a tie at 11-11 in the first set, however, the visitors from Portugal made sure they would keep control of the game and eventually took the set 25-19.

In the second set, Kairos dominated from beginning to end, leaving little chance for the Danes to put up a fight – and PONTA DELGADA stormed to a comprehensive 25-14 win.

In the third set, even though they did not stand any more chances to make it to the next stage of the competition, HOLTE IF briefly pushed back but still Kairos were too strong and finished the set and game with another solid 25-16 set win.

Three of their players finished the match in double digits, with Sarah da Silva Evaristo leading the way with 17 – followed by Daniele dos Santos Batista and Katia Helena Oliveira on a personal tally of 13 and 10 points, respectively. Frida Brinck top scored for HOLTE IF with 14 in their losing effort.

Kairos PONTA DELGADA are now due to play Germany’s SC POTSDAM in the 16th Finals.
