ŁKS Commercecon Łódź hosted Italian Igor Gorgonzola Novara on Tuesday evening in the first match of the 1/8 finals of the CEV Cup. After a great performance in the league match with Developres Rzeszów (3:1), Łódzkie Wiewióry were unable to maintain their equally high form and lost 0:3 to the Italians.
In the first two sets, the Łódź team was unable to engage their rivals in a balanced fight. Coach Lorenzo Bernardi's team quickly built a high advantage, dominating in almost every element.
Throughout the entire match, the team from Łódź was better at receiving than their rivals (60% to 57%). The big difference in favor of the Italians was their effectiveness in attack (54% to 35%).
The attack was evenly distributed for Igor Gorgonzola Novara. Tatiana Tolok scored 13 points, Lina Alsmeier 12 points, Mayu Ishikawa 11 points, and Sara Bonifacio 10 points.
In the ŁKS Commercecon Łódź team, Anastasiia Hryshchuk and Klaudia Alagierska scored 9 points each.
This win is a big advance for Igor Gorgonzola Nowava before the return match, which will take place in Italy on December 11.
Alessandro Chiappini"Before the match, I asked the girls to use the flow that was created during the match in Rzeszów (...).Emotions blocked us a bit. We knew we were playing against a very strong team. These emotions were a bit out of our control and that's why we didn't push them in the right way. While playing with them, we saw how physical they are - a strong middle blockers, an opposite who hits the ball with great force every time. Likewise, every serve was hard. It was definitely a difficult match. "
