Montenegrin clubs to join MEVZA League for new challenges and opportunities

Volleyball clubs Budva and Budućnost Volley will represent Montenegro in the MEVZA League starting next season, thereby marking the first time clubs from the Balkan country will participate in this prestigious regional competition.

To mark the occasion, a press conference was held at the Hilton Hotel in Podgorica, featuring speeches by the President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Nikola Kažić, MEVZA Director Frane Žanić, and club representatives Miloš Mitrović, President of OK Budućnost Volley, and Balša Radunović, President of OK Budva.

Montenegro’s representatives in the MEVZA League will include the men’s team of Budva, while both the men’s and women’s teams of Budućnost Volley will join the field as well. This involvement marks a significant step forward for Montenegrin Volleyball and a boost to the international recognition of its clubs.

The President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG), Nikola Kažić, stated that the participation of Montenegrin clubs in the MEVZA League is the result of dedicated work and the strategic development of Volleyball in the country. He added that this is an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and promoting domestic clubs on the international stage. Moreover, Kažić announced that, in addition to Budva and Budućnost, there is a possibility that at least one more club from Montenegro could join the MEVZA League, but this will be defined in the coming weeks and months. 
 
The Director of the MEVZA League, Frane Žanić, expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of Montenegrin teams in the competition, emphasising that the presence of new clubs will bring additional dynamism and quality to the league, thereby enriching the overall competition.

The President of OK Budva, Balša Radunović, emphasised that participating in the MEVZA League is a great honour and privilege for his club. He highlighted that Budva’s ambitions and goals go beyond mere participation – as they aim to present themselves as an equal and competitive team in this tournament.
 
The President of Budućnost, Miloš Mitrović, stated that participation in the MEVZA League is the result of a clear vision, a strategic approach, and long-term dedicated work. He added that it is a great honour for the club to be among the teams competing in this prestigious regional tournament.
