Panathinaikos secures comprehensive away win in Braga

On Tuesday night, European Cups rookies Sporting Clube de BRAGA of Portugal suffered a heavy 0-3 loss at the hands of Panathinaikos ATHENS in the first round of the women’s CEV Challenge Cup 8th Finals played at the AMCO Arena.  

The hosts coached by Joao Santos put up much of a fight in the first and second sets, which they only conceded after very closely-fought battles (23-25, 32-34). The third set was more one-sided with Panathinaikos proving a way more effective to close the match with a 25-17 scoreline. The return match where a spot in the quarterfinals will be at stake is due to be played this coming January 15 in Greece’s capital city. Panathinaikos will have to take two sets to secure their further progression in the competition.
