Quarterfinal Stage On The Way In Italian Cup, Huge Challenge in Germany For Schwerin
Preview
This weekend, while some of the most elite leages will experience an off-week, this will not be the case in Italy and Germany. In Italy, the #CLVolleyW contenders will fight for a spot in the domestic cup, while Schwerin will take the court against the leaders in Germany.
The biggest volleyball actions will be held in Italy this weekend: All three CEV Champions League Volley squads, A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano, Vero Volley Milano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci will compete in the quarterfinals stage of the Italian national cup.
Conegliano, the champions of the last five editions, will play against Vallefoglia, aiming for a straight-set victory. Likewise, Scandicci and Milano will face Bergamo and Chieri’76, respectively, to book their place in the semifinal stage.
The German #CLVolleyW team, SSC Palmberg Schwerin will have an important task to accomplish since they will visit Dresdner SC in the 13th leg of the German 1. Bundesliga. Recently, the Schwerin side made a huge comeback against Allianz MTV Stuttgart and closed the gap with the top two clubs. Dresdner side also put a high level of volleyball so far: By winning 11 of their previous 12 games, they are currently at the top of the standings. Therefore, it will be a good opportunity for Schwerin side to close the gap with the leaders, and also prove their strength.
A comparably relative weekend is ahead for the #CLVolleyW team Neptunes Nantes: They will meet TFOC in the 15th round of the French Ligue A. Nantes side currently lead the overall charts with a total of 33 points in 14 games. On the other hand, TFOC could find the sixth rank, making Nantes the clear favorite of the match. The other #CLVolleyW participant Levallois Paris Saint Cloud will aim to overpower Venelles. Both teams have the same winning record (10-4) and Saint-Cloud is one rank above their rival thanks to one more point they have collected. This means the winner of the game will not only gain a victory but there will be another case as well.
This weekend, all eyes will be on Italy, since the top four teams will be determined in the quarterfinals of the national cup, while the #CLVolleyW squads from Germany and France will also have important goals. We will see how these teams will put 2024 to an end.
