The match began with Sporting dominance, but VITÓRIA SC showed much resilience, especially in the third set, which was decided by small details. “We suffered in the third set because VITÓRIA is a very combative, warrior-like team, and that made our triumph even sweeter, especially when snatched with so much hard work in the third set, after two very well-controlled sets,” stated Rui Pedro Silva, Sporting CP coach, who won his first Portuguese Cup.

Jéssica Miranda from Sporting was the top scorer of the match, with 18 points.

Despite the defeat, Diogo Boto, VITÓRIA SC coach, praised his team for their team spirit and for never giving up. “Could the third set have given us more? Yes, but they were trying for something more throughout the entire game,” he added.

While Sporting CP deservedly celebrated their triumph, VITÓRIA SC showed pride in their performance, highlighting the team’s fight and determination throughout the match.

In the semi-finals the day before, Sporting had defeated GC Vilacondense 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16), and VITÓRIA SC from Guimarães, had won 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23) against Clube Kairós, a team from the Azores.
