National Snow Volleyball Tour gets underway in southern Italy

The first of three stops scheduled for the 2023 edition of the Italian Snow Volleyball National Championships took place this past weekend in Lorica, southern Italy, with competition open to men’s teams only. The event coincided with the opening stage of the Italian National Tour – which is run for the second straight year by the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV).

The eventual winners of the competition were Massimo Di Risio, Filippo Galanti, and Manuel Ortolano – all coming from the region of Abruzzo and more specifically from the city of Vasto. They needed two sets only (16-14, 15-10) to claim the final match with a team representing Volley San Giovanni in Fiore, which competes indoors in Italy’s Serie C. Luigi Barile, a member of the silver-medal winning team, claimed the award for the Most Valuable Player of the competition.

A number of VIPs and representatives from local and regional authorities attended the medal ceremony, with Snow Volleyball competition due to continue in Italy this coming weekend with an event taking place in Linguaglossa, Sicily, on the iconic Mount Etna.
