The Snow Volleyball season is officially underway, with the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) delivering this past weekend, from February 10 to 12, the first national championship of 2023 – with the event held at the Olympic Shift State Sports College in Tsaghkadzor, and participation of eight men’s and just as many women’s teams. Recognised by the FIVB and CEV as a National Tour, the event provided the bonus of ranking points for the participating teams.

These competed in a double-elimination format. The teams representing Avan, Van, BSU, and FIMA reached the women’s semis, with Avan eventually emerging victorious from the gold medal match following a 2-0 victory over Team Van. Team BSU finished the competition in third place after edging Team FIMA-1 in the ‘small final’.

Teams FIMA-1, CSKA-1, Gyumri-1, and FIMA-2 reached the men’s semi-finals. FIMA-1 and FIMA-2 claimed their respective semis with CSKA-1 and Gyumri-1 in straight sets to account for a derby in the final, where Team FIMA-1 recorded a 2-0 victory. Team CSKA-1 claimed the last spot of the podium after a 2-0 win in their matchup with Gyumri-1.

The top three teams received medals, cups, and gifts prepared by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia. VFA General Secretary Karen Asmaryan was happy with the delivery of the competition and during the award ceremony he said that the VFA is planning to apply to host Snow Volleyball World and European Tours in Tsaghkadzor.
