The first session of the commission responsible for the organisation and delivery of major international sporting events scheduled for 2025 in Armenia was held on Thursday, October 31, under the leadership of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan. Members of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) attended the session as well – since the Caucasus country is due to host next year’s #EuroVolleyU16M.

#EuroVolleyU16M was among the events discussed at a meeting chaired by Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan

The commission includes representatives from a variety of state institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the leadership of sports bodies. “Taking into account our previous experience of holding such large tournaments, we should implement interdepartmental efforts and pursue cooperative work in an organised manner in order to deliver events at a proper level,” said Minister Andreasyan.

The organisation of #EuroVolleyU16M was discussed during the meeting with the representatives of the VFA sharing their feedback so that they can join forces with other relevant parties to deliver an event of the highest calibre. The Minister assured that #EuroVolleyU16M is regarded as one of the most important such events for Armenia and the government will support the delivery of the championship whenever and wherever needed. Soon there will be an ad-hoc meeting with the VFA and sports officials from the Armenian government focussing solely on #EuroVolleyU16M.

The historic European championship will be taking place in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, in the summer of 2025 (from July 23 to August 3) and gather the top 16 teams from across the continent, including hosts Armenia.
