European Volleyball continues to break new ground and expand its horizons! The Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) will be hosting the 2025 edition of #EuroVolleyU17M – in what will be a truly historic premiere for a continental championship in the Caucasus country!

The decision made by the CEV Board of Administration at their last meeting in late February is another step forward in the effort made to involve as many countries as possible in the delivery of major Volleyball competitions. Only a week ago, the CEV confirmed that Iceland and the Faroe Islands would be hosting #EuroVolleyU16W in 2025 – in another premiere for European Volleyball and for two ‘small’ countries where the interest in Volleyball has been growing at a very fast pace.

The delivery of #EuroVolleyU17M in Armenia in three years’ time represents another milestone in European Volleyball history, especially knowing that about a decade ago, no teams from that country featured in European competitions at any levels. Therefore, the development has been just tremendous and this championship will represent the climax of such a virtuous process.

Back in November of last year, Yerevan played host to the EEVZA zonal qualifier for the 2022 edition of #EuroVolleyU18M

“Back in 2017, when CEV President Aleksandar Boričić visited Armenia, he proposed to us to organise an age-group European Championship in Yerevan. At that time, we were not yet ready to hold such a major event in our country. However, over the last few years we successfully delivered zonal qualifiers for the U17 and U18 European Championships and a stop of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour as well. We did so with much success and working in close cooperation with the CEV."

“Although our country and government are in a difficult situation and there are a number of problems, we are hopeful that by 2025 the situation in our country will improve and we will be able to deliver a successful championship. Following the decision of the CEV Board of Administration, the Armenian Volleyball family reacted to the news with great enthusiasm and we have already started our preparations,” he concludes.
