Austria finished their first weekend of the European Silver League campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping host nation Iceland 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-17). In front of a home crowd of 131 spectators, the Icelandic team struggled to find rhythm against a well-organised Austrian side that showed clinical finishing and defensive strength throughout.

Austria looked incredibly solid in their matchup with hosts Iceland

Kora Schaberl led the Austrian offense with 19 points, including 16 powerful attacks and three aces, while Marie-Kristin Bruckner and Carmen Raab chipped in with 10 and 12 points. Austria’s strong service pressure and high reception efficiency gave them a consistent edge across all three sets. On the Icelandic side, Sara Ósk Stefánsdóttir and Heba Sól Stefánsdóttir each contributed six points, but the team was hampered by many errors and a low attack conversion rate.

Despite the loss, Iceland showed flashes of potential with several long rallies and vocal home support, but Austria’s tactical discipline proved decisive. With this result, all three participating teams – Austria, Georgia, and Iceland – finish the tournament held in Kópavogur with a victory apiece.
