Three teams have finished the first week of the 2024 CEV Women's European Golden League and several others, which have a split record with a win and a loss are still in the hunt for the Final Four places, with Belgium, Ukraine and Czechia setting their target to improve their flawless record this week.

Czechia, which will host the Final Four on 15 and 16 June, and are already qualified, have lost a single set in the first week and will now head to Slovenia, where Maribor hosts Tournament 7.

Hosts Slovenia had a mixed bag of results, with one win and one loss so far, but have four points, after conceding a 2:3 loss against Ukraine, as another serious test is now waiting, with Czechia trying to improve their overall record. Spain look like underdogs in each of the two matches, after conceding losses in their first two matches last week.

Czechia and Slovenia have the third and fourth best scorers so far in the competition, with Czechia’s Gabriela Orvosova (56 points) and Slovenia’s Lorena Lorber Fijok (38 points) trailing Romania’s Ana Cristina Miron (63 points) and Rodica Buterez (58 points).

Belgium are the current leaders, having a better point differential than Czechia, themselves conceding a set in the first week, in the win against Spain. Now, they will host Tournament 8, as they face Estonia and Croatia, where they are favoured. So far, Estonia are one of the two sides which did not win a single set, dropping their matches against Slovenia and Ukraine in straight sets.

Ukraine will travel to Schwechat, Austria, where they try to extend their winning run to four matches against Slovakia and Austria. While Slovakia have one win and one loss, Austria are in danger of relegation to the Silver League, as they lost the first two matches in straight sets.

Tournament 6 will see Romania, Sweden and Azerbaijan clash for wins, as both sides have one win and one loss, with the team which can sweep their opponents staying in the hunt for a place in the Final Four. Superstar Isabelle Haak is expected to play at least one match, after dropping 33 points against Spain.

In the 2024 CEV Women's European Silver League, the nine participating teams will play in three tournaments in Luxembourg, Latvia and Portugal. Between the teams which won all their matches in the first week, Hungary and Finland will not feature this week, with Montenegro trying to extend their winning run against Portugal and Iceland.
