Bulgaria, Türkiye, Italy, and Spain remain unbeaten at #EuroVolleyU17M

On Friday, home heroes Montenegro suffered their third straight loss in the pool stage of #EuroVolleyU17M in Podgorica as they succumbed 0-3 (16-25, 16-25, 17-25) to Austria. Montenegro scored three points in a row in the early stages of the first set, but Austria soon managed to take control and they cruised to a comprehensive 3-0 win, with Simon Schlöglhofer top scoring with 14 points as team captain Vuk Stanojević recorded nine for Montenegro. After a rest day, Montenegro will be playing Estonia on Sunday at Verde sports complex.
In the same pool, Bulgaria extended their winning streak to three matches in a row following their 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-11) victory over Belgium. Konstantin Manolev top scored for Bulgaria with 11 points, as Warre Mertens recorded 14 for Belgium. Türkiye took maximum points from their matchup with Estonia as well (25-20, 25-23, 25-15), while Greece edged reigning U17 European champions Slovenia 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-15, 25-17). Stavros Konstantinos Mouchlias with 20 points was the best player for Team Greece, as Jaka Cestnik piled up 15 points for Slovenia in their losing effort. Yigit Kayra Tanriseven registered 12 points for Türkiye in their victory, as Joosep Kurik amassed 19 for Estonia.
In Pool II, Spain routed the Netherlands 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-16) much courtesy of 17 points from Mario Garcia Dominguez, as Italy beat Serbia 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-18) as well, with 14 points contributed by Gianluca Cremoni. France needed three sets as well to edge Czechia (25-23, 29-27, 25-16) with Andrej Jokanović top scoring with 19 points, whereas Poland required four to beat Finland (16-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-18) with Bartosz Chrzanowski as their most prolific player on 14 points.
After completion of three rounds, Bulgaria and Türkiye in Pool I – as well as Italy and Spain in Pool II boost a perfect record of three wins.
