On Monday, Czechia continued their flawless run in Pool II of the CEV U16 Volleyball European Championship 2025 with a confident 3-0 victory over Montenegro (25-19, 25-22, 25-17) at the Palace of Youth and Sports in Prishtina. Italy boast the same record in Pool I in Tirana where on Monday they beat Bulgaria 3-1.

The Czech girls look unstoppable at #EuroVolleyU16W where they have claimed five wins in as many matches this far

Now standing at five wins from five matches, Czechia once again showcased their trademark consistency and composure. After a balanced opening set where Montenegro showed early resistance, Czechia pulled ahead with precise attacking and strong defence to take it 25-19.
The second set proved more competitive, as Montenegro improved their side-out efficiency and pushed the set deep. But Czechia’s late-set focus proved decisive once again, as they edged out a 25-22 win to go two sets up.
In the third, Czechia maintained control from start to finish, executing with clarity and minimising errors. Their organised play at the net and quick transitions wore down Montenegro’s defence, leading to a 25-17 finish and their third straight-set win of the tournament.
With this result, Czechia remains undefeated with a 5-0 record and continues to lead Pool II with two matches still to play. Montenegro, now 2-3, will look to finish strong in their final group-stage encounters to stay in contention.

Greece kept their semi-final hopes alive with a dramatic 3-2 win over Slovenia (25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11) in a back-and-forth battle marked by momentum swings and extended rallies.
Greece opened strong, taking the first set 25-22 with a balanced performance in both attack and defence but Slovenia responded well in the second, adjusting their block and capitalising on Greek errors to level the match at 1:1. The third set saw Greece regain control in the closing points, narrowly edging Slovenia 25-23 to take a 2:1 lead. However, Slovenia was far from done – pushing back once again with grit and determination to take the fourth set 25-22 and force a decider. In the fifth set, Greece showed greater composure under pressure, maintaining a narrow lead and sealing the match 15-11 to claim their third win in Pool II.
With this victory, Greece improves to 3-2 and remains firmly in contention for a semi-final spot, while Slovenia, now at 1-4, faces a difficult path forward with two matches left to play.

Türkiye's team captain Ecrin Selis Türkyasar erupts in joy following her side's win over Croatia

Türkiye delivered one of their most composed and convincing performances of the tournament, defeating Croatia in straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-20) in their fifth Pool II match played at the Palace of Youth and Sports in Prishtina. Türkiye took control early, setting the tone with aggressive serving and organised play at the net to claim the opening set 25-16. Croatia, who had previously shown strong resilience in a three-set win over Hungary and a narrow loss to Montenegro, tried to respond in the following sets. However, Türkiye maintained consistency and rhythm throughout, winning the second set 25-21 and finishing the match with a confident 25-20 in the third. With this result, Türkiye improves to four wins and one loss, strengthening their position in the top half of the Pool II standings. Croatia, on the other hand, now have two wins and three losses to their name.

Hungary returned to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 victory over host nation Kosovo (25-7, 25-18, 25-7) in the final match of Day 5. After back-to-back five-set losses to Montenegro and Türkiye, Hungary entered the match eager to reset - and they did so emphatically. The Hungarian side came out strong, storming through the opening set 25-7 with relentless pressure from the service line and near-flawless execution in transition.
Kosovo responded with greater energy in the second set, showing more fight and producing several extended rallies, but Hungary maintained control and took the frame 25-18. In the third, Hungary reasserted complete dominance, mirroring their first-set form with another 25-7 win to seal the match in just over an hour.
With this result, Hungary improves to three wins and two losses, staying well within the race for the semi-finals. Kosovo, still searching for their first win in their historic European Championship debut, will look to build on their efforts in the final two rounds of matches.

Tuesday will serve as a rest day for all teams in Pool II. The final two rounds of group play will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, as the battle for the top two spots and a place in the semi-finals reaches its decisive phase in Prishtina.
