From December 17 to 19, Volleyball Danmark is hosting two 1st round zonal (NEVZA) qualifiers for next year’s U18 Men and U17 Women European Championships, with five nations competing for a ticket to the final round of the event scheduled for the summer of 2022.

With Christmas just around the corner, the weekend will be exceptionally busy for Volleyball Danmark and the participating teams from Finland, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.

The U18 boys are playing in Nordenskov, Jutland, where games will be taking place at Helle Hallen from Friday noon until Sunday afternoon. The head coach of Denmark’s U18 boys, Peter Kjellerup, is happy to be playing on a Danish home court and he looks forward to bringing together almost the same group of players that won the U17 NEVZA Championship title earlier this year:

“We definitely have an advantage in that our boys know each other from the previous tournament this year. They have been looking forward to playing with each other again, and that gives us a form of safety, which is important in a competition like this."

In the other side of the country, the U17 Women are playing in Køge near Copenhagen, with games held at Spar Nord Arena Køge from Friday until Sunday as well.

In both tournaments, the participating nations are playing round robins on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon the two teams with the best results will meet each other in a head-to-head fighting for a direct spot in the Final Round of the European Championship. The loser of this match will get a second chance in the 2nd round qualifiers scheduled for the spring of 2022.

Live streaming of all matches will be available on the official YouTube channel of Volleyball Danmark.
