Lausanne, Switzerland, December 8, 2014. A true volleyball feast awaits in 2015 with the FIVB Volleyball Club World Championships first on FIVB’s calendar in May and the season reaching a climax with the FIVB Volleyball World Cup in August and September.
The world’s top clubs will be the first to take centre stage in 2015 as the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship gets underway in Brazil from May 5 through 10. The women’s competition is set to take place simultaneously in Switzerland.
The middle of May will see the beginning of the 26th edition of the FIVB Volleyball World League, which is set to run from May 16 through July 19. The Group 3 Finals will take place in Slovakia from July 3 through 5. They will be followed by the Group 2 Finals in Bulgaria from July 10 through 12 and the Group 1 Finals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 14 through 19.
The 23rd edition of the premier annual competition for women's national teams - the 2015 Volleyball World Grand Prix - begins in June. The Preliminary Round from June 26 through July 18 will be followed by the Group 3 Finals to be played in Australia from July 10 through 12. The Group 2 Finals in Poland will be from July 31 through August 2. The Group 1 Finals will decide the winners of the competition from July 22 through 26 in Omaha, USA.
The 2015 volleyball season will reach its climax when the world’s top national teams convene in Japan for the quadrennial 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Cup. The women’s competition from August 22 through September 6 will be followed by the men’s competition from September 8 through 23.
Six age-group world championships complete the volleyball calendar for 2015. First up is the Women’s U20 World Championship, which will take place in Limassol and Kato Polemidia, Cyprus from July 3 through 12. It will be followed by the Women’s U23 World Championship in Ankara, Turkey from August 12 through 19. The Men’s U23 World Championship will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from August 24 through 31. The Men’s U21 World Championship will be played from September 11 through 20 in Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico. Finally, the Girls' U18 World Championship will feature 20 teams competing in Lima, Peru from August 7 through 16. The Boys' U19 World Championship will follow at the end of August or the beginning of September (dates to be confirmed) in Argentina.
