The U20 men’s national teams of Azerbaijan, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine as well as hosts Poland are due to contest this week the EEVZA qualifier for this year’s European Championship in their age group, with the event taking place at the recently opened sports hall in Gorzów Wielkopolski. Those finishing from second to fourth will contest the second and last round of qualifications coming up in April.

EEVZA and local officials addressed the media on the eve of the #EuroVolleyU20M qualifier

The EEVZA tournament will be played from January 10 to 14, 2024. The spectators will be able to follow two matches per day. Live streaming of all matches is available on the official YouTube channel of the Polish Volleyball Federation. Moreover, the matches of Team Poland will be televised on Polsat Sport News as well, this way further raising the profile of EEVZA competitions.

On Tuesday a press conference was organised at the local Arena Gorzów. The capacity of the venue stands at more than 5,000 people.

“Congratulations on the beautiful sports facility that was built in Gorzów. I am very glad that such a tournament is taking place in Poland, in a country that has shown us great solidarity with us in recent times."

Mykhaylo Melnyk
President of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation and EEVZA President

“This tournament is extremely important to us. For all teams, this is the first opportunity to qualify for the European Championship. We expect the competition to be at a very high level because everyone will want to win,” added Wojciech Czayka, President of the European Sports Organising Commission (ESOC).
