Frankfurt, Germany, August 1, 2018. The last time he wore the jersey of the national team, Germany claimed a truly historic silver medal from the 2017 men’s EuroVolley in Poland. Now he is back again: Georg ‘Hammerschorsch’ Grozer will return to play for Germany in conjunction with the friendly matches with Olympic champions Brazil due to take place in Leipzig and Dresden on September 7 and 9, 2018.
All fans can look forward to the international comeback of the best opposite hitter from the last European Championship. Grozer played five games with Team Germany in Poland and scored an incredible haul of 117 points, including some truly spectacular ones. As for 2018, at his own request, he enjoyed a little break during the newly created Volleyball Nations League, but he will return to wear the shirt of Team Germany for the much-anticipated matches against reigning Olympic champions Brazil.
“I used the break to recharge my batteries and spend quality time with my family,” Grozer said. “That was important to me this summer. However, now I am looking forward to the training and the games with the boys. To say it openly, it is the start of our preparation for the next season. Therefore, I feel a great desire to play in the friendly matches against Brazil and I look forward to that.”
