1st Semifinal Romania vs Hungary 2:3 (10–25, 25–22, 25–12, 16–25, 15–9)
The Hungarian women's national volleyball team defeated Romania in the semifinal of the CEV Golden European League, held on 28 June 2025 in Ängelholm, Sweden. The match ended with a 3–2 victory for Hungary (10–25, 25–22, 25–12, 16–25, 15–9), securing the team's spot in the tournament's final.
This was Hungary's second win against Romania within three weeks, with the previous match also ending 3–2. The semifinal was a closely contested encounter, with both teams demonstrating high levels of competitiveness.
Hungary’s head coach, Alessandro Chiappini of Italy, kept the same starting lineup that had previously defeated Portugal. After losing the first set 10–25, Hungary recovered and took the second (25–22) and third (25–12) sets. Romania responded by winning the fourth (16–25), leading to a decisive fifth set. Hungary claimed the final set 15–9 to secure the win.
2nd Semifinal Ukraine vs Sweden 3:0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18)
Ukraine has previously won the tournament twice, most recently in 2023, when they defeated Sweden in a two-legged final. Sweden, in turn, were the reigning champions after winning the title in 2024 and were aiming to defend their crown. The two teams had already met earlier this season during the group stage, with Sweden winning that match 3–0.
In the semifinal, Ukraine took early control and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the first set, eventually winning it by a six-point margin. The second set saw intense competition, and with Sweden leading 11–5, it seemed they might turn the momentum in their favor. However, Ukraine capitalized on their opponents' mistakes, regained the lead, and closed the set 25–20.
Ukraine also claimed the third set, securing a convincing victory and avenging their earlier group-stage loss.
The final between Hungary and Ukraine will take place on Sunday, 29 June at 19:00 local time.
