The SS Park in Strumica is hosting this weekend one of three tournaments scheduled for the first competition weekend of this year’s CEV European Silver League - Women. This is where North Macedonia will face Luxembourg and Switzerland. Home mentor Stefan Paunović has been following the team’s form for two weeks in an excellent working atmosphere and has emphasised on several occasions that his players are highly motivated and willing to prove themselves. He confirmed the same in the run-up to the matches.

North Macedonia play Luxembourg and Switzerland this weekend in Strumica

“I am satisfied with what we have done in the last weeks. We are prepared, but we will take it step by step. First, we are thinking about Luxembourg, an opponent with whom we can measure our strength. They do not come in the composition we expected, but I think we have enough information, we have analysed them, we have prepared tactically and now it remains to transfer that to the court. I think the good preparation combined with the excellent atmosphere we have in the team is a winning combination. We are all positive, motivated and we are eagerly awaiting the start. We have to be calm, play our game and go slowly point by point, set by set – we have something to show,” says Paunović.

North Macedonia will be making their second appearance in the CEV European Silver League when it welcomes and plays Luxembourg. Tomorrow, on the second competition day, the home side has a rest day, while Luxembourg plays Switzerland at 8 pm. On Sunday, the Macedonian national team will measure its strength with Switzerland. The support from the audience at SS Park in Strumica will be essential on the way to their first European joy in a long time, and the coach says that the players deserve to play in front of full stands:

“I hope that the audience will recognise the chance that these girls have and will come to support them. Admission is free, and I am sure that it will be an additional motivation and satisfaction for them to play in front of full stands.”

The matches from the first tournament of the CEV European Silver League will also enjoy live television broadcast nationwide.
