Men's CEV EuroVolley 2026 Qualifiers heat up going into the Final Matches
News
We're heading into the final two legs of the men's CEV EuroVolley 2026 Qualifiers and things are far from being decided in most of the pools. Keep in mind that only 12 teams, the pool winners and the five best second seated teams will be going to the final tournament next year, joining the 12 teams already qualified, the 4 hosts and the 8 best teams from EuroVolley 2023.
Before their match today, Türkiye and Denmark are even on 6 points in Pool A, with Denmark just slightly ahead on secondary metrics and having proven they can take on Türkiye with their straight sets win earlier in the qualifiers. The third team of the pool, Hungary is virtually eliminated being on zero points with only one match to go.
Pool B leaders, Belgium sit comfortably at the top with a perfect record so far. Behind them, Austria and Azerbaijan will be hoping for an incredible end to their qualification campaigns to maintain hope of getting one of the spots reserved for the second seated teams. Pool C is in a similar situation, with leaders Czechia very close to qualification, while Norway and Montenegro will be hoping until the last minute that things can go their way.
In pool D, leaders Estonia are 1 point clear of second place Israel, but they are also the only team with two matches left to play. A win today against Croatia would mean that they would have a four point buffer going into the the final match against Israel and thus virtually guaranteed to finish at the top of the pool.
Pool E sees second seat Switzerland travel to Spain in what could prove a crucial match for their qualification chances. A win today and they will set up a final match against Sweden where the winner of the pool will be decided, a loss today and everything will be resting on that final match.
Greece is another team with a perfect record in the qualifiers, Pool F, confirming the upward trajectory of the last few years at both a national and club level. They will finish their campaign today with a match against second place North Macedonia, a match that can either guarantee they will finish first or make them nervous ahead of the last leg if they loose, having to watch North Macedonia face Georgia in a match that could potentially decide the winner of the pool.
Lastly, Pool G sees Latvia and Slovakia tied on six points, Latvia with a ,match in hand however and thus topping the pool before their last two matches. The decisive match will most likely be today's own, with the teams going head to head in Slovakia before Latvia's final match of the qualifiers taking place this weekend against Kosovo.
