CEV Volleyball European Silver League 2021 | Women
Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina didn't disappoint their fans this Wednesday, as they seized 3-0 victories vs Latvia and Estonia respectively, and secured their spots at the Final Four of the 2021 CEV Volleyball European Silver League 2021 | Women that will take place on June 11-12 in Maribor, Slovenia. However, to determine who will finish first in the group, they will have to lock horns with each other on Thursday, the last day of play in Pool B, in what will be the Match of the truth.
One day before the end of the tournament in Pool B, Bosnia and Herzegovina top the charts with 13 points, while Portugal follow them with 11. Whatever the outcome of tomorrow's matches, Estonia (with 6 points) cannot reach neither the first place, nor the second one in the group.
In the first match of the day, Portugal met Latvia and needed only 69 minutes to outclass the opponent. While showing equal skills on the winning spikes (30 to 31), the Portuguese players outperformed Latvia on the block (8 to 2), which became the key element for the victory. On the other hand, Latvia let too many errors (26) to affect their game and couldn't record first victory at the tournament.
- Marta Hurts from Portugal topped the charts with 13 points, while Maria Lopes added 10 for her team's victory. For Latvia, it was Petra Neciporuka who scored 10 times.
- Aline Rodrigues became Best Blocker of the match, with 3 blocks to her name.
In the other match of the day, Bosnia and Herzegovina stormed out for a quick 3-0 over Estonia, needing only 62 minutes to grab the 3 points. Outperforming the opponent in all the components, the players around Stevan Ljubicic congratulated themselves with the important win.
11 kill blocks and 5 aces helped the Bosnia and Herzegovina team to seize the victory, but not to underestimate is their better performance on the attack (49% efficiency on the winning spikes, compared to 27% by the opponent).
- Dajana Boskovic was named top scorer with 16 points to her name (3 blocks). Edina Begic added 10, while for Estonia Kristiine Miilen recorded 8.
