The Portuguese Women's Senior National Team will start their participation in the European Silver League on Wednesday, May 25th (21:00), by hosting Estonia, at the Centro Cultural of Viana do Castelo.
In CEV European Silver League 2021 edition the Portuguese won against Estonia 3-2 and 3-1 in the Pool held in Zenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Hugo Silva"In this Silver League the most difficult opponent will be Sweden, but my concern is our national team and it is with our players that I want to leave something positive in women's volleyball. We want to reach any competition and win, but the growth process will be long, and we will, first, focus on ourselves, in order to form a team with a good game model and able to discuss the result with any team"
Head Coach of the Portuguese National Team
Joana Resende"In this initial phase, we have to be more concerned with building our game model, with playing a good level of Volleyball, which allows us to play on an equal footing with the other teams. Last year we managed to reach the semi-finals, something unprecedented, so expectations are good. Our goal is to be in the final of the Silver League, and we are working towards that"

In 2021, the National Team made history in the European Silver League by qualifying for the Final Four of the competition after winning the qualifying Pool B - in the Bosnian city of Zenica -, with five wins and only one defeat: Estonia (3- 2 and 3-1), Latvia (3-0 and 3-0) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (0-3 and 3-1), with the latter team winning the ESL 2021.
As the present edition of the Silver League has only one pool, the first two ranked teams will qualify for the final, scheduled for the 2nd of July.
The winner of the final qualifies for the European Golden League 2023.
