Romania, Ukraine, Sweden and Hungary made it to the Final Four of the CEV Volleyball European Golden League 2025 Women, after securing five wins and conceding a single loss in the league round, which concluded last Sunday.

The first place in the league round was sealed by Romania, which bounced back after their loss against Hungary on their home court in Blaj and delivered two clear wins, both in straight sets, against Azerbaijan (25:14; 25:10 and 25:17) and against Croatia (25:18; 25:10; 25:17).

Romania, which have never won a medal in the CEV Volleyball European Golden League, conceding the bronze medal match last season, had the best record between the five teams to end with five wins and one loss, dropping only four sets, three in the loss against Hungary.

Ukraine finished second, as their unblemished record saw them concede the first loss, 0:3 against Sweden, in Radom, Poland. Ukraine had little chance against the Scandinavian side, which will host the Final Four, as the top scorer of the competition, Isabelle Haak, the MVP of the CEV Champions League Women last season, had 28 points.

Ukraine bounced back and secured a 3:0 win against Slovakia, 25:12; 25:21; 25:16, to secure the second place, having won 15 sets and dropping six on their way, the same record as Sweden, but with a larger number of points, 15, as opposed to the Scandinavian side’s 14 points.

Sweden clinched their own 3:0 win against Slovakia (25:21; 25:13; 25:15), with Haak’s sister, Anna, and Isabelle herself scoring both 17 points, to finish on the third place, as Hungary ended up on the fourth place.

Hungary also finished with two wins on their home court this weekend in Kaposvár, with a 3:1 win (25:20; 23:25; 25:23; 25:20) against Montenegro and another 3:1 win (25:20; 25:18; 23:25; 25:23) against Portugal.

Slovenia (4-2), Slovakia (3-3), Greece (2-4), Croatia (2-4), Spain (2-4), Portugal (2-4), Montenegro (1-5) and Azerbaijan (0-6) completed the final standings, with the latter side dropping to the sliver league, finishing on the last place, as the only team without a win and with only two sets won in 16 matches.

The Final Four of the will take place in Ängelholm, Sweden, on 28 and 29 June, after a one-week break in the CEV Volleyball European Golden League 2025 Women. Romania and Hungary will meet in the first semi-final, with the two sides have already faced off on 6 June, when Hungary took a 3:2 win, while Sweden take on Ukraine.

Sweden and Ukraine are the last two winners of the CEV Volleyball European Golden League Women, having met in the final in 2023, when Ukraine took two 3:0 wins, while last season, Sweden clinched a 3:2 win over Czechia.

Hungary have also won a title in 2015 and finished as runners-up in 2018, while Romania are the only team without a medal so far.
