Serbia is in the semifinals, Germany won surprisingly defeated Bulgaria

After free day, the U17 European championship continued with match between Bulgaria and Germany. Both teams were fighting for promotion from the pool I. Bulgarian players started better, they led 10:5 in the first set and it looked like they won it easily, but Germany woke up and, in the end, won the set 25:23.

“It wasn’t easy game, even though it looked like. We practiced hard for this game, I think we were a little bit better mentally, because they couldn’t score, they disappointed and mad. We were a little bit stronger.”

In the second match, Croatia played against the Netherlands. In the beginning Croatian players led 5:1, but Dutch were getting back into game and the score was even, 15:15. The Netherlands created five points lead and finally, they won first set.

Second set was absolutely under the Croatian control, and they won it 25:15. The third one and the fourth one was more dramatic, but Dutch players led most of the time a won both and whole match.

“We didn’t expect that it will be easy, we were fighting like a team, we had a little problem in the second set, but in the third one, were stronger, we didn’t want to lose the set and I’m really proud of the team, that we played like this.”

The day ended with a match between the first team and the last team in pool I. The Serbian favorite showed their qualities from the start of the match. Halfway through the first set, the Czech Republic lost six points and Serbia won the first set easily.

They had a greater advantage in the second set, broke the Czech game and won the second set as well. In the third, the Czech players fought like lions, but it was not enough, Serbia won 3:0.

“It’s very important match, because of semifinals. We played very well, before the match we prepared what we want to play, and we did it. We got our rhythm from the begging until the end, I think this is the best from us on this tournament. Every team on this championship is very good, I think that we are just a little bit better in emotion or motivation. That is the different between teams”
