Türkiye clinch first victory at the #EuroVolleyM Qualifier, Germany W with another one in the bag

The fans of Volleyball across the continent enjoyed another thrilling day full of #EuroVolley Qualifier games both in the men’s and in the women’s sides of the tournaments.

Team Türkiye huddle

Türkiye 3-0 Hungary

To the delights of the home crowds in TVF Ziraat Bankkart Volleyball Hall Ankara in the same city, the Turkish players achieved their first win in their 2026 #EuroVolleyM Qualifier campaign so far.

Led by head coach Umut Cakir, the Turks could prevail over Hungary in straight sets (25-11, 25-10, 25-17), recording first success in Pool A. With two matches two their name (one loss and one victory), the Turkish take the second position in the group, followed by the Hungarians. Denmark are first with two wins. 

On Thursday, Türkiye, led by top scorers Bedirhan Bülbül and Adis Lagumdzija (15 and 14 points respectively), outclassed their opponents on all Volleyball counts. Their excellent performance on the net (10 to three kill blocks) and from the serving line (10 to zero aces) played a pivotal role for the success. Türkiye were also more successful in attack: 35 to 22 winning spikes. 



Germany celebrating a point

Germany 3-0 Finland

On the women’s side of the competition, Germany proved better than Finland and recorded a 3-0 win in a match that lasted 73 minutes. 

With two victories in as many games so far, the German ladies top the charts in Pool A, followed by Switzerland (one win and one loss) and Finland who remain winless. 

In the matchup against the Finnish ladies, the team of Germany showed better determination in the deciding moments, keeping the leadership position throughout all three sets despite their opponents’ attempts to turn the tables.

In front of 1700+ fans of the game in the PALMBERG Arena SCHWERIN, the players around head coach Alexander Waibl showed better skills in attack (42 to 24 winning spikes), on the blocking (five to three kill blocks) and on serving (10 to three aces). However, the Germans let more own errors affect the score, finishing with 20 mistakes (to 16 by the Finns). 

Lena Kinderman became top scorer with 13 pts. (40%. exc. in attack), while Anastasia Cekulaev also deserves to be mentioned as she recorded eight points and finished with 86% exc. in attack.
